You may have seen that Vista Training Solutions was the subject of a BBC investigation about the Pearson BTEC Level 2
Certification: “Introduction to the Role of the Professional Taxi and Private Hire Driver”.
This course was not delivered by Vista Training Solutions, but by a separate organisation which traded as The London Language Academy and occupied office space in our premises. They approached us earlier this year with a proposal to help local people get into work. They took complete responsibility for delivering the programme using our accreditation number to issue the certificates. We were happy to help what we understood to be a community project and made no money from the programme other than a nominal rent for the room hire.
The BBC’s revelations that some certificates from this course had been awarded through underhand methods came as a complete shock. We were devastated to learn that such malpractice took place and would like to apologise unreservedly to everyone who has been affected. We are doing everything in our power to put things right and to ensure that something like this never happens again.
We are working with Pearson, the BTEC awarding body, to examine each and every file of those who have taken the programme to confirm whether or not their accreditation is genuine. Those in doubt will be investigated further and reported to Transport for London who issue taxi driver permits.
However, we recognise that many people may not have realised that they obtained their certificate fraudulently and will be concerned that they are not properly qualified to drive a taxi and may lose their livelihood. In these cases, we would like to offer them the opportunity to retake the programme free of charge and obtain a genuine certificate. We have a dedicated email address for people to contact us and would urge anyone who is affected to contact us immediately at firstname.lastname@example.org
We know that there will be many people who will now be concerned about the validity of the qualification or training they have received through Vista Training Solutions. We’d like to reassure you that the rogue organisation only delivered the BTEC Level Certification “Introduction to the Role of the Professional Taxi and Private Hire Driver”, and no other programme or qualification is affected. However, if you have any concerns please do get in touch via the email address above.
